Numerical reasoning and understanding through mathematical computation

Mathematical competence is the ability to develop and apply mathematical thinking to solve a range of problems in everyday situations. Based on good numeracy, the focus is on processes and activities as well as knowledge. Mathematical competence involves, to varying degrees, the ability and willingness to use mathematical ways of thinking (logical and spatial thinking) and presentations (formulas, models, constructions, graphs and tables).
